Also known as the “Painted Tongue,” the “Flamingo Flower,” and the “Tail Flower,” Anthuriums are known for their long lasting, heart-shaped, and brightly colored flower spathes. The spike that grows out of the spath is called a “spadix,” and that is where the tiny flowers grow. Although poisonous if ingested, the anthurium is a beautiful and elegant addition to any home.
Bright, indirect light is best
To avoid root rot, do not overwater. Water only when soil is dry to the touch.
Use a plant food at 1/4 strength with a higher phosphorus number (the middle number).
Pot in a well-drained pot. For best results, use a mixture of regular potting soil and orchid mix.
